Rebecca Hoover was born in Canton Ohio May 26, 1835 and died in her home in Geneseo August 30, 1916 , being aged at the time of her death, 81 years and 2 months and 24 days.  The early part of her life was spent in the vicinity of her birthplace and tenderest recollections clung around her eastern home. At eight years of age she was married to Mr. William Mohler and to the union one daughter was born. 

She was the life companion of her parents and is the nearest relative and mourner today. Some few years after the death of Mr. Mohler she married Mr. J.W. Hoover. For a few years Mr. and Mrs. Hoover resided in Loraine township and while there were associated with the United Brethren church . Upon coming to Geneseo they transfered their membership to the First Methodist Episcopal church and have since worshiped with that communion.

Mrs. Hoover was well known here having lived on the farm where she died for thirty five years. Her illness was protracted and after a long and busy life fell in sleep to rest from her labors. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday by Pr. J.F. Robinson her pastor and were attended by a large number of friends.
