This is a list of Veterans of Henry County for WWI,WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. This list of brave men was submitted by Paul Lindsey. Thank you Paul! Also thank these heroic men for your freedom!


World War 1
Cecil C Lindsey: Pvt, 4th Trench Mortar Battalion, 4th Infantry Division. Cecil was born in Edmonson Co Ky, and moved to Kewanee (Henry Co) IL. in 1930. He is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery with his wife Alma (Ling) Lindsey. He was the father of Buford, Calvin William, and Paul

World War 11.
1.Buford G Lindsey: 1st Sergeant,Company F,   129 th Infantry Regiment ,37th Infantry Division. Served in Northern Solomon Island , Philippine Islands . Awarded the Bronze Star, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal  with Four Battle Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, Philippine Liberation Medal with Battle Star, American Defense Ribbon, WW11 Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National defense Medal. 6 Overseas Bars and One Service Stripe. He is buried in Mt Olivet Cementary , Kewanee (Henry Co) IL. . He was the son of Cecil Lindsey and Alma (Ling) Lindsey.

2. Calvin Lindsey: Staff Sergeant, 152nd Aerial Assaualt  Battilion, 11th Airborne Division. Awarded Parachutist Badge, Asiatic-Pacific Campagin Medal, World War 11 Victory Medal National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal. The 11th Airborne Division was the 1st Army Division to go into Japan after they were defeated. He is the son of Cecil Lindsey and Alma (Ling) Lindsey

3. Blancit Lindsey: Staff Sergeant 32nd Infantry Division (Red Arrow Division). Awarded Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Asiatic-Pacific Campaigne Medal, WW11 Victory Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was the son of Clarence Lindsey and Mary (Ling) Lindsey. , He is buried in Plesant View Cementary, Kewanee, (Henry Co) .

4: John Kubis: United States Army. Awards and rank Unknown

5: Stanley Kubis: United States Army. Awards and rank unknown.

6. William Kubis: United States Army
Awards and Rank unknown.

7. Alexander Kubas; United States Army.
Awards and rank unknown.
4 thru 7 were brothers from Kewanee and Alexander spelled his last name different from his brothers.
They were the sons of John and Katherine Kubis.

8. Melvin "Cookie" Morrison. Private First Class, Squad Leader,Headquarters 16th Corps. Was on the Normandy Invasion, Served in Northern France . Rhineland and Central Europe , Awarded the American Campaign Medal, European-African- Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, World War 11 Victory Medal , God Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Medal  and 3 overseas bars. He is buried in Plesant View Cemetary, Kewanee (Henry Co) IL.

Korean War

1.William Lindsey: PFC, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division.
Awarded Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Campagin Medal,  Good Conduct Medal. National Defense Medal. He was the son of Cecil and Alma (Ling) Lindsey. He is buried in Long Beach Ca.

1.Donald Lindsey: Tech Sergeant USAF. Award and decorations unknown. He is the son of Clarence and Mary (Ling) Lindsey.

2.Richard Castell. Sergeant USAF Rank and Awards unknown.  He was the son of Ruby Castell and Mayme (Ling) Castell.

Viet Nam War:
1.Wayne Lindsey. Master Sergeant USAF
Awards and Decorations Unknown. Wayne was also a Korean Vet.
He was the son of Clarence Lindsey and Mary (Ling Lindsey

2.Paul A Lindsey: Tech Sergeant, 1131st USAF Special Acitivty Squadron, Det 10.  Hq. MACV.(Military Advisory Comand Viet Nam ) Awarded Chief Air Crew Wings, Air Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters) Comendation Medal (one oak Leaf Cluster) Good Conduct Medal, Viet Nam Campagin Medal. Viet Nam Service Medal with 2 battle stars, Republic of Viet Nam Gallantry Cross and  National Defense Medal.
He is the son Cecil Lindsey ad Alma (Ling) Lindsey.

Note: Buford, Calvin, William, Paul, Blancit, Donald, and Wayne are double cousins and Richard Castell was a first cousin. Buford and Blancit was the only Lindseys to get wounded in combat.
