MRS. JOHN HOOVER CALLED BY DEATH; SURVIVED BY TWO SONS AND THREE DAUGHTERS; RITES HELD JULY 24
Mrs. Virginia Hoover, widow of John W. Hoover, died at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning, July 21st, at her home on South Spring Street. She had been in poor health for some time and seriously ill several days previous to her death. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Myers Chapel with Rev. Snider, pastor of the Davenport Unitarian church officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery
. Virginia Hawley Hoover was born April 3, 1854 , near Hampshire Illinois , the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Hawley. She was married to John. W. Hoover on Nov. 9 1876 in Garrison County Illinois . She had been a resident of Geneseo the past forty five years. For many years Mr. Hoover was in the dairy business here. He died in 1936. Mrs. Hoover was a member of the First Unitarian church of this city. She was devoted to her home and family.
Surviving are three daughters, Miss Rena hoover who resided at home with her mother; Miss Amy Belle Hoover, teacher in Seatle Washington ; Miss Ann Hoover, an instructor in Gary Indiana; two sons, Loren of Peoria and J.O. Hoover of Hartford Conn. ; a niece, Mrs. Kenneth H. Smith, who made her home with the Hoovers until her marriage. She also leaves two brothers, Samuel Hawley of Vinton Iowa and Ray Hawley of Garner Iowa ; two granddaughters, Mrs. Ralph Newberry of Peoria and Miss Mildred Hoover of Los Angeles .
