WILLIAM RICHARD BOLLEN LIFE LONG RESIDENT OF THIS COMMUNITY PASSES

William Richard Bollen, well known and highly respected resident of this city passed away at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Pritchard, Sunday morning May 15, 1932, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 2 days.  He was taken ill about two weeks ago but was showing steady recovery until Sunday morning when death occurred unexpectedly from heart failure. 

Mr. Bollen was born, April 13, 1861 in Loraine Township , the son of John and Caroline Heller Bollen.  There he grew to young manhood engaging in the occupation of farming and cattle feeding, which he followed for 39 years.  In 1892 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Louise Sieben who preceded him in death eight years ago.  While actively engaged in farming he took considerable interest in the affairs of the township and for many years served as township school trustee.  In 1915 he moved to Geneseo and in 1926 went into the implement business with Albert T. Johnson, retiring in 1928. 

Surviving are two sons, Donald and Ralph and one daughter, Mrs. Irene Pritchard all of this city; one brother John Bollen, of Geneseo; and four granddaughters, Regena, Elaine, Anita and Elizabeth Bollen all of Geneseo.  One sister, Mrs. Sarah Hines passed away three years ago. 

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 from the home, 427 North State Street and 2:00 from Grace Evangelical church with the Rev. G. II. Wykle officiating.  Selections were sung by the Obrecht quartet.  Pallbearers were Dave Arnett, James Lavery. C.O. Johnson, Arnold Johnson, Paul Pritchard and Henry Nelson.  Burial was in Oakwood cemetery.  Relatives from out of town who attended the services Tuesday afternoon were Mrs. Bernice Sieben of Erie, Mrs. Bertie Kempster and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Butzer of Prophetstown and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brooks of Atkinson.
