Information was also gleaned from a newspaper
article written by Dianne Beetler in 1987.

Isaac Swanson, born in Smaland, Sweden, Mar. 23, 1846, came to America in the early 1860's. He enlisted in the 151st Regiment, Company E on February 15, 1865, but the unit never actually fought in any battles except for a few skirmishes.

After the war, Isaac came back to the area and married Clara Peterson in Andover. Isaac farmed in Lynn and Rio townships for many years and lived in Ontario at the time of his death on Feb. 11, 1909. He is buried next to his wife, Clara, in the Oneida cemetery.

In Isaac's obituary, it mentions that he and Clara had 14 children, three of whom died young. The remaining children were: John Alvin, Eddie, Lizzie, Clara, Lillie, Hannah and Ida (twins), Lee, Florence and Clarence.
