Soperville Cemetery

Soperville Cemetery is located in Henderson Township in the northeast quarter of Section 20.  Once you're heading north on Route 150, leaving Galesburg, turn left on Route 37 (2100N).  Once on Route 37, take the first left which is 200E (Soperville Road).  Drive about 1/4 mile until you see a grove of trees on your left at the bottom of a hill.  The cemetery is in the middle of these old trees with a sign to help you locate it.  A nice young man, Tim Godsil, has restored what is left of the cemetery, cleared out the brush and cleaned the stones.  There are only four stones left standing as of July 2004.

There are three stones together belonging to the Casson family.

Behind the Casson stones is this solitary stone belonging to the Tryon family.

The pictures above were taken on July 26/August 5, 2004. Listed below are the remaining stones.  If you have any additional information on people who are buried here, but are not listed on this webpage, your contribution would be most appreciated!  Thank you!
