Mrs. M. L. Hyde, of Galesburg, visited her old friend, Mrs. Susan Culver, Friday last.
Miss Emma Dowdigan went to Yates City Saturday evening, to visit a few days with old friends.
Ulysses Thomas was in from the West last week, after an absence of thirteen years, on a visit to his grandmother, Mrs. Allen.
Mr. John Elliott, of Siloam Springs, Ark., arrived here today, and will make Knoxville his future home. He is a brother of Albert Elliott.
Miss Ena Buffen (Buffum?) of Yates City, delegate of the W. C. T. U. society of that place, visited with her friend, Mrs. J. J. Neely, Friday and Saturday of last week.
Mrs. Hibbens and Miss Donney, who conducted the Gospel Confernece here, went to Canton to hold services, Sunday. From there they go to Lewistown to hold a three days conference.
Mr. C. N. Carson is in Chicago, attending the great auction sale of the James & Walker Co., stock of dry goods. This is the largest auction sale of desirable dry goods ever held west of New York, and Mr. Carson will doubtless be able to offer bargains that will cause the silver to be brought from its hiding place and go into the channels of trade, across his counters.
