Mrs. J. (E.?) Wilder had the misfortune Monday when she went to step on a chair of falling and breaking both the bones in the lower part of the arm and the wrist. Dr. Louis Becker was called and set the bones.
Mr. and Mrs. Leverne Hughes, who lived between Knoxville and Gilson, are the proud parents of a fine baby boy, born Tuesday November 4.
The Ladies' Society of the Presbyterian Church met Wednesday in the Sunday school room and made the carpet for that room. There was a good attendance present.
Mrs. Maynard Tarpy and son Rogers, from Elmwood, spent the day Monday here at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Rogers.
Mr. and Mrs. E. X. Hastings, the father and mother of Rector Hastings of St. Albans, will spend a part of the winter in Knoxville, having rented a house.
Hiram Way and wife received word Monday that Miss Floy Way and Mr. Lee Shoop were married in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Shoop will go at once to housekeeping in Chicago, Mr. Shoop having secured a position with the Bell Telephone Co. Mr. and Mrs. Shoop are both well known popular Knoxville young people, and their many Knoxville friends wish them many prosperous years of wedlock.
The meeting of the Women's Club which was to have been held Monday, November 10, will be held Tuesday, November 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the high school building. The change of date was necessary because of a conflict with a number on the Galesburg lecture course. All ladies of Knoxville are invited to be present, by order of committee.
Mr. and Mrs. Taulbert Harris spent the day Monday at Gilson with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Anderson.
Mr. and Mrs. Willy Gross, of Boston, Mass., who have been visiting here at the home of his brother, Charles Gross and wife, left Tuesday for Michigan, where they will make a brief stay before returning to their home.
Mr. John D. McCormick, son of Bishop McCormick of western Michigan, spent several days at St. Albans as guest of the rector, returning Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Booth and son Elmer, who have been spending the past two years on their farm, near New Boston, shipped their household goods to Knoxville, where they will make their future home at their residence property on Line Street.
Mrs. J. R. Smith returned Monday evening from Maquon, where she has been spending several weeks with her friend Mrs. Simpkins.
Miss Lawrence Buck, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, arrived here Tuesday for a visit with her aunt, Mrs. W. R. Frazer.
Mr. and Mrs. Ewing Thurman, of Galesburg, visited here Sunday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Dickerson.
The Standard Bearers of the Methodist Church will meet Friday evening with Mrs. A. N. Wyman on East Main street.
A. South has opened up a grocery store in the Star Grocery on the east side of the square, which was recently vacated by Mr. Rowe.
