Hymeneal
(Galesburg's Republican-Register, Saturday, August 20, 1887, page 1, submitted by Janine Crandell)

Mr. Williard G. Kirlin and Miss Emma C. Reeves, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Reeves, were married at eight o'clock Wednesday evening, at the residence of D. H. Peck on Chambers street. The bride and groom stood beneath a pretty basket of flowers. There were other attractive floral decorations. The ceremony was witnessed by a pleasant company, consisting mostly of relatives. The knot was tied in the most approved fashion by Rev. N. T. Allen. The bride was dressed in an electric blue silk toilette. The presents were lovely and many, including silver and glassware, table linens, and other articles too numerous to mention in detail. Especially were the bride and groom kindly remembered by the railroad friends of the groom. Letters of regret were received from a great-aunt and uncle of the bride, living in Vermont; from Mr. and Mrs. Pierce, of Urbana, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Diffendiler and Mr. and Mrs. Moon, Huntington, Indiana, and from Mr. and Mrs. Fred VanFleet. Mr. and Mrs. Edson Peck, of Warsaw, Indiana, were present at the wedding. Elegant refreshments were served. The newly married couple left on the midnight train for Chicago, where they will spend a week. The groom is a well-known and popular railroad man. We tender our best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Kirlin.

The Minneapolis Journal of June 24, contains the following about the marriage of George Longbrake:

A simple wedding was solemnized this afternoon in a flower of ferns and moccasin flowers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kilgore, when Miss Gertrude Brandmark became the bride of George R. Longbrake of Seneca, Kan. The bridegroom with his best man, Harry Kilgore, awaited his bride before a bank of green brightened with wild flowers. The bride entered with her brother, John Brandmark, who gave her away in marriage, preceded by Mrs. Harry Kilgore, matron of honor.  Mrs. Kilgore was gowned in white French mull and carried ferns.  The bride wore tan voile over silk, trimmed with point lace, and her flowers were pink roses.  Rev. A. R. Tillinghast read the service. Miss Eve Koenig played the wedding march, while the bridal party were taking their places, and "Elsa's Dream" during the ceremony.

An informal reception was held after the ceremony.  In the dining room where light refreshments were served, decorations were in green and white and green and white tapers were lighted while the tapers in the living room were red and the pink moccasin flowers were used. Mrs. Coe presided in the dining room, assisted by Miss Jennie Murfin? and Irene Koenig.

Mr. and Mrs. Lonbrake will leave this evening for a trip through Illinois and Wisconsin.  After July 21, they will be at home in Seneca, Kans., where Mr. Longbrake is pastor of the Universalist church.
