KILBOURNE - Cleveland L. Goben, 76, of Kilbourne died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, May
6, 2004, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.
Born March 10, 1928, in Bath Township, Mason County, to Clay and Bessie Force
Goben, he married Janice Vaughn on Oct. 14, 1955, in Kilbourne. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Dave (and Vicki) of Havana; one daughter, Mrs. Jim
(and Sally) Cline of Petersburg; one brother, Clyde of Pekin; four sisters,
Mildred Lewis of Walnut, Kan., Betty Cornwell of Arlington, Texas, and Joyce
Goodwin and Margie Reitz, both of Clearwater, Fla.; and four granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
A life member of Havana Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6408, he was an Army
veteran, serving with the Military Police from 1946 to 1949 in occupied Japan.
He was a farmer and was a truck driver before serving in the Army. He later
worked at Atwood Corp. and Dana Corp. in Havana. He then was a bus mechanic for
Balyki High School in Bath for nine years, retiring in 1990.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana, where
visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Ken Wagstaff will
officiate. Burial will be in Kilbourne Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for his family in care of National
Bank.
