Pleasy Thomas
Page 29

Pleasy Thomas lived in Oakford all his life working
as a farm hand on nearby farms; however, prior to
1900 he was town marshal. In 1891 he had a shoot out
with John Isaac between the Sutton building and Maltby
store, and from this gun battle, Pleasy carried two slugs
to his grave. This occurred when Oakford was in its
infancy and had just been incorporated. It is said by old
timers that Isaac had a breast plate on and suffered
only bee stings throughout the chest area.
