Modern Woodman of America
"Log Rolling Champs"
During the year 1900 the Modern Woodman had
organized their log rolling team and traveled to
Athens for a big even with the Oakford band traveling
along with them for encouragement. The Oakford team
won first prize of $25. Later that year they traveled
to Ashland again winning the championship and the
$25 purse. Practicing was one of the big pastimes
for the crew during the year. In 1901 it was decided
to have the picture taken of the crew which how hangs
in the Oakford Post Office. The members are left to right,
Joe Jackson, Addison Lynn, Francis Ledbetter, Rob or Curt Lynn,
Luther Lynn, Cyrus Lounsberry, Frank King, Albert Dick. Joe Bailey
and M.O. Atterberry.
