Rev. Wiley Lin Hurie was born at Rock Creek, Menard County, Ill., March 17, 1885. He was converted when a child and united with the Rock Creek Church. He graduated from Illinois College, Jacksonville, in June 1906, as valedictorian of his class. In March of the next year he was received as a candidate for the ministry and licensed to preach by Sangamon Presbytery. He was ordained at Rock Creek Church Dec. 18, 1911.

He attended Theological School at Lebanon, Tenn., and Union Seminary, New York City, graduating from the latter in 1912.

In the fall of 1912 he accepted a call to the Presbyterian success for the past ten years.

Wiley Lin Hurie is one of Rock Creek's own boys and grew to manhood within her borders. The community feels a just pride and a deep interest in his work. Spiritual, studious, perse5vering, conscientious and earnest, he is deserving of success. Cheerful and hopeful, he

"Keeps the heart singing all the while," and
"Makes the world brighter with a smile,"
as he joyously obeys the call of the Master.
