Enoch prim was born in St. Clair County, Illinois, in 1816, and came to Menard County in the fifties. He married Lucinda Bracken. They had a family of fourteen children, twelve of whom grew to manhood and womanhood: Frank, a Civil War veteran, Robert, John Q., Theophilus B., William R., Mary H., Emily, Amanda, Frances, Margaret, Virginia and Elvira.

Some of their descendants still reside in the community. The Primm home was a frequent meeting place for the young people.

Mr. Primm invented, patented and operated a cider press, sometimes making as many as 1,000 barrels of cider in the fall.
