Two Hundred Men are Thrown Out of Employment.

Athens, Jan. 31 - The Athens mining company's coal shaft that suffered the explosion yesterday is in bad condition. The west end is on fire. Sixteen mules have been taken from the shaft. No one is allowed to go down and the miners are refused permission to go after their tools. The intention is to close up the shaft and smother the flames. Two hundred men are thrown out of employment. Superintendent Kincaid is absent from the city, but will return tomorrow. Richard Dawson, exper____ b___, came this morning from Springfield to look after the mine.
