WILLIAM A. CLINE, LIFETIME FARM RESIDENT, DIED WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14
William A. Cline, 84, retired farmer and a lifetime resident of Sangamon
County, living about three miles east of Athens, passed away at St. John's
Hospital about 6:55 p.m. last Wednesday, June 14, following a 12 day illness.
Mr. Cline was born in Sangamon County, January 2, 1860, near Cantrall, a son of the late Henry and Mary (Primm) Cline. He followed farming until about 20 years ago when he retired. He was a large land owner of that county.
Mr. Cline was twice married, first to Jennie Flagg, who passed away in 1898. Later he married Lillie M. Council, who died in 1923.
Those who survive are two children: one son, Henry, Athens; one daughter,
Mrs. Ina Me Canterbury, Cantrall; one grandson, Kenneth Cline, Athens; one
granddaughter, Lillie Canterbury, Cantrall; and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Caldwell of Williamsville.
Remains were removed to the Mott and Son Funeral Home here and services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday from the residence of his son, Henry Cline, three miles east of Athens, with Rev. K. D. Teater, pastor of the Athens Christian Church, in charge.
Interment was made in Indian Point Cemetery.
