Mrs. Mabel J. Courtwright of Springfield, formerly of Athens, died at 6:34
a.m. Tuesday, March 1 at Memorial Hospital at the age of 97 years.
Mrs. Courtwright was born June 18, 1890 in Ashland, Kansas, the daughter of Oliver P. and Emma Keene Canterbury. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elza, in 1946.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Courtwright was employed by the John Bressmer Co. for many years. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. Walter Welch and Mrs. Mabel O'Hara, both of
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 3 at Ellinger-Kunz and
Davis Funeral Home in Springfield, with Rev. Harry Deffley officiating. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, Athens. Mott and Henning Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital or the
Easter Seals Foundation.
