Ben Balster, 78, Former Resident Here Died Jacksonville Tues., Dec. 30 - Ben A. Balster, 78, a farmer in the Damascus Community for many years, and later until several years ago an Athens resident, passed away at Jacksonville at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday where he had resided since leaving Athens. Mr. Balster was born May 20, 1874, near Tice, a son of Henry and Sadie Balster. In 1900 he was married to Miss Nellie Snell and the couple engaged in farming: Mrs. Balster died six years ago. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Eural Baum, and a brother, Tom Balster, both of Petersburg, and four grandchildren. A son, Emerson, died in 1941. The body is at the Satorius Funeral Home in Petersburg, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, with Rev. Robert Niehaus officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
