Petersburg Observer, 1914

The late George Baum was born in Friesenheim, Baden, Germany, Jan. 1, 1831, and departed this life Jan. 28, 1914. The funeral services took place in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, on Friday, Jan. 30. His pastor the Rev. C.A. Weiss, officiated in German and English. The deceased was interred at Rose Hill. Mr. Baum came to this country when a growing boy, and spent most of his life, about sixty-four years, in Illinois. He was united in marriage with Margaret Kehl, in August, 1856, at Jacksonville . Of the eight children born to them, only three together with the widow survive him. They are: Henry, Mrs. John Rhodes, and Marion.
