Mrs. Annie America Beaver, the daughter of Morrison and Melissa Meecham, a member of a family of five children, was born near Georgetown, Sangamon County, Illinois, August 21, 1855 and died at the family residence in Athens at 8:40 Monday morning, January 18, 1937, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 27 days.
Deceased was married to David Beaver in Athens on March 2, 1873.
To this union eleven children were born; seven sons and four daughters; three sons dying in infancy.
In the year 1890, Mrs. Beaver united with the church of God, at Springfield, Illinois, later transferring her membership to the Methodist Episcopal Church of Athens and has since lived a consistent Christian life.
On August 14, 1926, her husband departed this life leaving Mrs. Beaver then to share the home with her son Ezra who has done everything humanly possible to minister to the wants and needs of his mother.
Mrs. Beaver had been in failing health for the past few years, but not until about ten days ago did her condition grow alarming and on the above date, suffering from the infirmities of old age and other physical disabilities passed on to join many of her family who have gone before.
Surviving her are four sons, Ezra, Athens; Otto, Cantrall; Charles and Melvin, Route 3, Lincoln, Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Sealock, Havana and Mrs. Mamie Stiles, of Lincoln; also 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Michael, Springfield, and Mrs. Alice Gard, Decatur.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Mott funeral home. Rev. W. W. Harding, pastor of the M. E. Church officiating. Interment was made in Hall cemetery.
