Gustave Boehm, Sandridge, Dies At Home
Gustave Boehm, 85 years old and a resident of
Menard County for the past 66 years, died at his
home in Sandridge precinct north of this city
Monday morning May 6, following an illness of
several weeks.
Mr. Boehm was born at Liepzsig, Germany on Jan
3, 1850. He spent his boyhood in his homeland,
and came to America at the age of 16, going
first to Philadelphia where he spent three
years. Then 66 years ago, he came to Menard
County and settled in Sandridge precinct, where
he spent the remaining years of his life. He
followed farming as a vocation, and won the
liking and respect of all who knew him, through
his honesty and integrity.
He was married in Petersburg on Oct 25, 1880 to
Mary Aden, who preceded him in death about four
years ago. Surviving are four children, Charles
Boehm, and Misses Mary and Rose of this
community and Mrs T. G. Heyen of Humboldt, Neb.
Surviving also is one stepson, Eilert Weber: two
grandchildren, one brother, Otto Boehm fo this
county and one sister Mrs Hannah Stroh of Havana.
Funeral services are to be held at St Pauls
Evangelical church at 2 o'clock Thursday
afternoon, conducted by Rev. Frederick
Schnathorst and burial will be in Rose Hill.
