Mrs. Alice Franks Dies In California
Word was received here _____? Alice Franks at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rose Franks Scull. Franks, who was agent for years at the old C.P. & St. L. station. He passed away December 7, 1924.
Mrs. Franks, formerly Miss Alice Hopwood of near Athens was born March 28, 1862 and had reached the age of 75 years, 10 months and 3 days.
She was united in marriage to E. A. Franks on November 30, 1898.
She was affiliated with the Athens Christian Church and was a member of the Royal Neighbors.
Mrs. Franks was a wonderful woman and had hundreds of friends who loved her because of her cheerful disposition. During all her long illness she suffered without complaint. For years she had been confined to a wheel chair.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Rose Franks Scull of El Monte; three brothers, N. R. of Ada, Minnesota; J. W. of Springfield and Edward Hopwood of Athens; one sister, Mrs. Mary Underwood of Athens.
The remains will arrive in Springfield sometime Friday, and will be brought to this city where funeral services will be held under auspices of the Royal Neighbor lodge.
