Charles N. Harding, a resident of the Atterberry
community for more than half a century, and well
known as a farmer throughout his life, died at
his home West of Atterberry a short time before
midnight on Thursday, February 21, at the age of
eighty-four years. He had been in failing health
for some time.
Charles Newton Harding, son of Pascal and
Elizabeth Spear Harding was born December 21,
1859 on a farm near Philadelphia, Ill. Mr.
Harding spent his early life in and around
Philadelphia , his occupation throughout life
being a farmer. On October 6, 1875 Mr. Harding
was joined in marriage to Emily Caroline Waring,
daughter of George G and Elizabeth Clark Waring,
who preceeded him in death on June 8, 1905. To
this union were born four sons: George Harding,
Atterberry, Riley Harding, Burbank, California,
William Peyton Harding, Springfield, and Charles
Grover Harding who died in infancy.
