Dead At 73

Mrs. Tennis S. Powell of rural route 3, Petersburg, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8 at Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Powell was born Feb. 8, 1898 at Monticello, Ky., the daughter of James and Judy Spann Brammar. She was married to Oscar Powell who died October 30, 1956. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Lucille Sinclair, Mrs. Delores Snyder and Mrs. Ada Hollis, Petersburg, Mrs. Marilyn Hillyer, Kansas City, Kansas and Mrs. Elma Cornelius, Springfield; four sons, James Powell, Springfield, Stanley Powell, Racine, Wis.; Leland Powell, Jacksonville and Maj. Franklin E. Powell, Germany; three sisters, Mrs. Berta Grayer, Mrs. Lucinda Gohlson and Mrs. Logan Denney, and one brother Elmer Brammar, all of Monticello, Ky., 42 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

The body is at the Hurley Funeral Home where visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday until one hour before funeral services. The funeral will be held at 3:30 Thursday afternoon at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Odell Bell officiating and burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
