Mrs. Maggie Rhodes Dead at Eighty-two - Mrs. Maggie A. Rhodes, 82 years old, died at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 5 at the home of her grandson Ancil Rhodes east of Petersburg, following an illness of more than two years. Mrs. Rhodes was born on a farm east of Petersburg on Dec. 17, 1866 the daughter of George and Margaret Kehl Baum. She attended the school near her home and on March 22, 1887 she was married to John A. Rhodes, and they continued to live in the community in which she was born. Mr. Rhodes died June 20, 1923. Surviving are one son, Ira E. Rhodes; and the grandson with whom she made her home. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. The remains were brought to the Satorius Funeral Home and services were held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Dr. B.H. Selcke. Burial was in Rose Hill, pallbearers being Carl Schafer, Otto Geriets, Eural Baum, Clarence Baum, Leon Baum and William Glenn. Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Clarence Baum, Mrs. Ernest Osborne, Mrs. Carl Schafer and Betty Sharp.
