The death of Mrs. Katherine Georg Rodemer occurred at the Springfield hospital Friday evening, September 12, 1924, aged 53 years, 1 month and 16 days. She had been in poor health for several months and was only recently taken to the hospital where she underwent a surgical operation, but owing to her weakened condition she failed to rally and passed away as above noted.

Deceased was born at Lichtenrote, Hessen, German, July 27, 1871. She came to America in 1888 and was married to Carl Rodemer, May 29, 1889.

To this union eleven children were born, nine of whom survive. One daughter, Freda, died in 1895 and one son, Earl, died in 1910.

Surviving are her husband, Carl Rodemer, and children: Mrs. Emma Johnson of Greenview, Carl, William and Henry of Greenview, Otto, John, Margaret, Amelia and Martha at home; one sister, Mrs. Charles Ruppel of Virginia, Illinois; one brother, George Georg in Germany, also five grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Emanuel Lutheran church, Monday afternoon, September 15 at 2 o'clock. Rev. J. G. Kaiser officiating. The services were very largely attended. This outpouring of neighbors and friends was a tribute to the love and respect in which the deceased was held by the people of this community and the surrounding territory. A quartette - Miss Lydia Hackman, Mrs. Ed Engel, J. J. Reinders and Henry Ferden - rendered beautiful selections and the Ladies Aid in a body sang a hymn in honor of their departed member.

Interment was made in Hall cemetery.
