John C. Sitzmann, Retired Farmer, Is Dead at 82

John Carl Sitzmann, 82 died at 11:00 Saturday morning, August 25 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Pritchett, in the city.

 Mr. Sitzmann was born January 11, 1874, in Obertall, Germany, a son of Carl John and Katrina Sitzmann. He came to this country on Sept. 10, 1891 and settled in Tallula. On March 10, 1903, he was united in marriage with Miss Nettie Schone, of Tallula. After their marriage they were engaged in farming in Menard county for many years. Mrs. Sitzmann died October 3, 1947.

Surviving are two sons, John and Carl Sitzmann, Petersburg. Five daughters, Mrs. Anna Pritchett, Mrs. Emma Pritchett, Miss Kate Sitzmann and Mrs. Elsie Todd all of Petersburg, and Mrs. Marie Dummings, of Greenview; twenty six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

Mr. Sitzmann was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical and reformed church of Petersburg, and had been a member of the Men's Brotherhood of that church for many years.

The body was taken to the home of Mr. Sitzmann's son, John Sitzmann, three and one half miles south of Petersburg, Sunday afternoon, and funeral services were held at the residence at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, followed by services at 2 o'clock at St. Paul's church conducted by Rev. Clifford Janssen. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery with the Satorius funeral home in charge.
