August Weber was born in Baden Germany. August 24, 1848 and passed away at his residence in this city. Thursday morning at 6:00 O'clock. Sept 23, 1926 at the age of 78 years and 30 days.

He acquired his early education in the country of his birth and at the age of 14 he left school to assist his father who was a farmer. At the age of 20 he came to America. Shortly after landing in New York, he went to Pittsburgh where he was employed in a tinnery. Later he drifted to Menard County where he since resided, farming at OLD SALEM, Curtis and his last years of acting life were spent on his farm near Athens.

On the 18th of September, 1880 he received his citizenship paper at Petersburg, in the Country Court, under John Tice, the judge of Menard County at that time.

On June 17, 1875 he was married at Petersburg, Illinois to Catherine Kelly. To this union five children were born; three Daughter and two sons, the daughters and wife, having preceded him in death.

On April 30, 1903 August Weber was again married to Mrs. Hannah Kelly nee Carroll at Petersburg. To this union one son and three daughters, were born; Margaret and Stella died in instancy. The wife passed away eleven years ago, leaving Mr. Weber a widower for the second time.

Deceased is survived by two sons by his first marriage, Tom of Beloit, Wisconsin and Andy of Freeport, Illinois, James and Marie by his last marriage at home. He is also survived by five grand children and two great grand children, and one stepson, Thom as Kelly of Springfield.

Funeral services were held at the Holy Family Catholic Church in this city, last Saturday morning at 9:00 o'clock, Rev Jeff Davis, pastor, officiating.

Interment was made in Calvary Cemetery, Petersburg.
