Trade and Manufactures
Besides river transportation, Keithsburg nas two railroads— the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy and the Iowa Central—passing through the town. It claims a population of 2,000. It has a button factory employing many operatives; is the head quarters of the Marshall Telephone Line; has an electric light plant, and a fine water-works system; cement walks are taking the place of all others, and a factory for oil cans, patented by a citizen of the town, is doing a nourishing business.
The business men and people generally are wide-awake, up-to-date pushers, always on the alert in the interest of the town, and ready to offer a royal welcome to all new citizens.
