Bertha De May, 88, of Moline , died on Friday, April 24, 1998 , at Trinity Medical Center , West Campus, in Rock Island . Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home in Orion. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery in Orion. Visitaiton will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Memorials may be left at the funeral home for a fund to be established.

Bertha White was born on Feb. 16, 1910 , in rural Swedona, the daughter of John Frederick and Johanna McNeill White. She had been a switchboard operator at the former LeClaire Hotel in Moline , last employed in 1981. She married Lewis De May on June 6 1934 , in Sherrard. He died on March 20, 1979 . After their marriage the lived in Galva for one year before moving to Moline . She enjoyed music and sewing.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Henrietta Larson of Woodhull; and several nephews and nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.
