Tlie first settlement in Bowling township was made in 1838 by a Mr. Bowling, John Tyndall and Edmond Cropper, who all arrived about the same time.
Another pioneers came until about 1841, when there was quite an influx of settlers, among them being James Clarke, David Clarke, John Clarke, John Johnston and Christopher Armstrong. Wellington Curtis and Henry McKuight arrived a little later. The settlements after this were many and when Bowling township was organized in 1857 there were a number of prosperous men within its confines
