The above are nearly all large plants employing many operatives and the manufactur­ ing industries of the place are constantly in­ creasing, both through the enlargement of the plants, the addition of new equipments and the investment of heavy capital in the establishing of new factories.

There are efficient representatives here of the professions and of other lines of business. Among the physicians may be named: Charles E. Donahoo, Judson H. Long, Henry J. Love, William M. Patton and E. Don Taylor, all medical men of high personal standing.

The legal profession is represented by such men as Arthur B. Johnson, Fred H. Railsback and Floyd E. Thompson. There are two banks, the Manufacturer's State Bank, and the State Bank of East Moline .

The town is well supplied with retail stores representing the usual lines. While there are several theaters there seems to be room for more.
