G.A. Gustus, 72 years of age, 1803 twenty-third avenue, Moline, Former alderman and long time resident of Moline died last night in Moline City Hospital after a brief illness of complications..
Mr. Gustus was born in Sweden in 1851 and came to America when he was 4 years old with his parents. He had lived in Moline for the past 65 years. He served as alderman of the third ward for two years under the administration of Gustaf Svenson. Mr. Gustus was also a past noble grand of the Swedish Olive lodge No 583, I.O.O.F At one time he was part owner of a meat market which was established under the name Newton and Gustus Market.
Surviving besides the widow are four sons. Maurice, Rueben, Arthur and Elmer, one daugther Mrs. Florence Passmore, and two grand sons. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 O'clock Sunday afternoon in Esterdahl Chapel. Rev. Walter Tillberg will officiate. Buried will be in Riverside Cemetery.
