James D. Christy

James Daniel Christy, 59, of 1612 1/2 Seventeenth street, Rock Island, died at 6:25 o'clock last night after suffering a heart attack at the Handleman and Weisman Tire Company where he was employed as a service man.

Mr. Christy was born Aug. 16, 1883, in Milan Ill., the son of the late Charles G. and Mary Gannon Christy. He attended school in Milan in Milan and wed Miss Goldie V. Ranbarger there June 6, 1906. She preceded him in death in April 1919. Mr. Christy came to Rock Island to reside 15 years ago. He was employed by the Burlington railroad and later by the Velie Corporation.

Surviving are two brothers, Charles W. and Maurice T. Christy both of Rock Island; three sisters, Miss Mayme Christy, with whom he resided and Mesdames Frank T. Grotjan and Harry P. Pate both of Rock Island; two nephews and a niece.The body is at the Wheelan funeral home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tomorrow night. Funeral services will be Friday morning at 8:30 o'clock in the funeral home and at 9 o'clock in St. Joseph's Catholic church.

Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery.
