J.C. BETHURAM
Merchant at Andalusia ; was born in Rockcastle Co., Ky. , on Feb. 26,1808 ; Rep; Bapt; he owns ten town lots, and three dwelling houses; also a half interest in twenty-six lots and one brick store; he was brought up in his native Co., and educated in the public schools; taught school during the winter for several years; on July 14, 1830, married Miss Nancy Debord; in 1841, moved to Montgomery Co., Mo., and located on a farm; came to Mercer Co., Ill., in 1852, to Andalusia in 1864, and has since followed the mercantile business; his wife having been removed by death, he subsequently married Mrs. Ann Jones, of Aledo, Mercer Co., Ill., by his first marriage he had ten children, all living excepting two sons; he has nine step-children, and has brought up three orphans; he has been Justice of the Peace twelve years, Assessor four years, and Deacon of his church about forty-two years.
