Carbon Cliff Resident for 77 Years Dies at Age 90, Following Stroke Carbon Cliff, Jan. 16

Mrs. Minerva Barton, 90 years old, believed to be one of the earliest settlers of Carbon Cliff and well known throughout the county as a pioneer, died at 6 this morning at the home of John Ewarts, Carbon Cliff. Until Saturday morning, when she suffered a paralytic stroke, Mrs. Barton was active, busy about the house and keenly interested in every-day affairs. Mrs. Barton was born on March 4, 1834, in Tuskeras county, Ohio, and had been a resident of Carbon Cliff since she was 13 years of age - a period of seventy-seven years. Her husband preceded her in death many years, a daughter, Mrs. Jack Bisant, died fifteen years ago. A brother, Mack Owens of Newton, Ia., is the only survivor of close kinship. A number of nieces and nephews will mourn her passing. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
