THE MONTGOMERY ELEVATOR COMPANY

A. E. Montgomery, the present owner of this company, has been in the elevator business for twenty years. He was with the Moline Elevator Company as manager during its early development up to the time the business was sold to the Otis Elevator Company. He was then with the Otis company in various capacities for about two years. Afterward the elevator factory in Moline was closed, and in 1911 he secured temporary quarters, and commenced work with the object of establishing a new and larger elevator factory in Moline with the cooperation of Mr. J. F. Green as chief engineer and designer, an expert in his line.

A complete new set of drawings and patterns has been produced, embodying all the latest and most approved ideas in elevator construction and design. A corps of expert mechanics has been constantly at work on patterns and special tools for the rapid and accurate production of complete elevator machinery and parts. A company has been organized, the Montgomery Elevator Company, with a capital of $150,000, which may be increased as the business develops. A choice site has been purchased of about 3% acres at First avenue and Twentieth street, close to all freight depots, and with ample switch tracks affording unequaled shipping facilities. A modern factory building has been erected and occupied.

A full line of the most modern and up to date machinery is installed, and a modern foundry plant will be erected in the near future. Despite the fact of limited room in the temporary location, a large amount of work has been shipped and installed, and many more orders could have been secured had it been possible to fill them. The company will confine itself to the manufacture of elevators exclusively, and is prepared to furnish electric passenger and freight elevators for any service also belt driven and hand power elevators, dumb waiters and special hoists to order.
