THE MOLINE POLE AND SHAFT COMPANY

The Moline Pole and Shaft Company was organized in 1909 and since it commenced operations in 1910 has been a growing and thriving manufactory. Like all other concerns whose out put is used to supply the world market, the company has flourished and prospered until it has become one of the foremost of the younger manufacturing concerns in Moline. This factory is located at Twenty-fifth street and Third avenue and there is plenty of reason for necessary and certain expansion.

Already two separate additions have been made to the original plant. The factory building is of brick and concrete, machinery is electrically driven, and altogether the company has in site, building and equipment all that anyone could want for economical and efficient operation. George F. Thompson's invention of tlie safety pole and truss brace shaft for buggies is the product manufactured.

Mr. Thompson is an experienced buggy manufacturer of Minneapolis and holds the patent on his invention. In a little more than a year after the company turned out its first completed product, more than 100,000 poles were in use in the United States, Canada and Alaska. "Used in all sorts of places and for all sorts of work, the commercial value of the product was made sure in those first eighteen months. Since then the manufacture has continued at a steady pace and today more than 200.000 poles are being utilized. The pole is a hickory stick saver—a recognized merit in this day of wood conservation—in that two pieces of short length are used. J. B. Finley of Parkersburg. W.
