CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES ON VISIT HERE
ERICK SWANSON ASP PASSES AWAY AT HOSPITAL AT MIDNIGHT
Came Here in April from Old Soldiers Home in Milwaukee to Visit Brother at Milan
Erlck Swanson Asp. civil war veteran and Inmate of the old soldiers' home at Milwaukee , here on a visit, died at the city hospital at midnight from acute kidney trouble, He had been ill but a short time, being attacked while visiting his brother Charles at Milan . It was thought necessary to remove him to the hospital and everything possible was done to prolong life, but without avail.
He was born in Sweden 68 years ago and came to the United States in 1860 A year after arriving he enlisted in the union army at Galesburg . He saw active service, being severely wounded and taken prisoner, by the confederate army. Since the close ot the war he had been an Inmate of the soldiers' home, owing to wounds-which prohibited his working.
In April this year he was granted a furlough from the home for a summer to visit with his brother. Besides his brother in Milan he .leaves , a niece. Mrs. G. A. Gustus of this.city. Funeral. arrangements have not been completed.
