Novella A. "Chilly" Miller, 73, of 819 42nd Ave. , Rock Island , died Saturday, Jan. 1, 1994 , at Trinity Medical Center , West Campus, Rock Island.

Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Burial is in National Cemetery , Arsenal Island . Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established.

The former Novella Nelson was born Feb. 1, 1920 , in Rock Island , the daughter of George W. and Elsie May Sisco Nelson. She married Harold Miller Sept. 21, 1940 , in Rock Island . He died Jan. 13, 1985 . Mrs. Miller was employed as a cook at the former Southwinds Motel, Rock Island . She previously was employed at the fomer Servus Rubber Co. and the former Town and Country Restaurant, both of Rock Island . She was a member of Amoo Caldron 1, Zal Caldron 4 and Vashti Shrine 23. She enjoyed crafts and dancing.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Crocker, Rock Island ; a son, Terry Miller, Simi Valley , Calif. ; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Elsie Huntley, Andalusia , Louise Ludwig, Rock Island , Kathryn Klepper, Lowell , Wash. ; and several special friends.
