William Josephson

 

William Josephson was born in Sweden on September 3, 1848, the son of Joseph and Mary Molander. The family emigrated to the US. Before leaving Sweden he had learned the organ making trade. Upon emigrating he went directly to Princeton, Ill where he worked at cabinet making for seven years. Then moved to Mendota Ill. Where he worked in the shop of the Western Cottage Organ Company for nine years.

Upon moving to Moline he bought an interest in the Moline Cabinet Organ Company and was elected first secretary of the company. Both Mr. and Mrs. Josephson were members of the Swedish Lutheran Church of Moline.

He married Matilda Samuelson on June 27, 1869 in Princeton, Illinois. Miss Samuelson was also born in Sweden and came to this country in 1852. They had five children Jennie(Oct. 22, 1872) Conrad(Feb. 4, 1874), Telma (July 25, 1878), Effie(July 25, 1881) and Lenard(Aug.21, 1883).
