The Rock Island County Historical Society House and Museum

Located at 822 11th Avenue

The Society is an excellent source of Quad City history. There are three museum buildings, one of which is a mansion that dates back to 1878. The mansion is furnished with artifacts to reflect life in the 19th century. Notable exhibits include carriages, dolls, Indian artifacts, clothing, and milk processing equipment. The Historical Soceity House is an excellent place to search for your Rock Island county roots. They have a huge collection of historical book, articles and many old newspapers. It now houses the Rock Island Illinois Genealoogical Society. The staff is wonderful and very helpful.
