Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pryce, died Monday aged 3 months, 2 weeks. The funeral was Wednesday with burial in the Coal Valley Cemetery .
Ella May Goben died Saturday aged 18 years, 2 months 18 days. She was born at Carbon Cliff, Illinois and was a member of the Milan M.E. Church . She is survived by her parents, 3 sisters and 5 brothers. The funeral was Monday at the Milan M.E. Church with burial in the Chippiannock Cemetery .

William H. Clarke will be married on October 20th to Adaline, Rathbun daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Rathbun of Pre-emption, Mercer County at the home of the bride's parents. (October 29th issue: they were married Tuesday in a small ceremony due to the recent death of a relative.)

A letter from Samuel Reed Wilson of Manilla, Philippine Islands, to his friends in the Milan Presbyterian Church is printed. (October 22nd issue: Earl Wilson "who has been out west" for .a long time, is his brother. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wilson.)
Thomas Armstrong of Pre-emption, Mercer County died Monday at Grinnell , Iowa vhere he was attending thr funeral of his brother's wife. His brother, Foster Armstrong, and daughter Anna had gone with hin. Burial was Tuesday near Pre-enption. He had been a resident of Bowling tnp for 40 years, lie Is survived by his wife and 4 daughters: Mrs. Lipton, Mrs. Janes Schroeder of Pre-emption; Mrs. James Connelly of Farmington, Ills; and Miss Anna at home; and also by 3 brothers and 3 sisters: John Armstrong of Burlinpton, Kansas; Foster Armstrong of Pre-enption; Archie Armstrong of Grinnell, Iowa; Mrs. Lizzie Fredricksen of Viola, Kansas; Mrs. F. Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska; and Mrs. Allely of Iowa. (October 22nd issue: the funeral was Thursday with burial in the Wood's burying ground.)

Iva Murdoch was killed Saturday in a Coal Valley mine. Fritz Krapp Krapp is a brother-in-law of the dec'd. The funeral was Monday at the Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife and 3 small children, the younpest a son aged 5 months. He is also survived by his parents, brothers and sisters.
Monnouth, Warren County: The Rev. Pearce T. Rhoades of Attica, Indiana aged 83 years married Mrs. Temperance Whitnack of Monnouth aged 70 years, on Thursday.
MUSCATINE, IOWA: Janes I. Geisler, a Muscatine banker, married Shafnit Miss Ida, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenry Shafnit of this city aged 19 years.

Louis Lamb who murdered his wife and mother-in-law and then killed himself in St. Joseph, Michigan on Tuesday, was buried Saturday in Edgington tnp. The funeral was at the hone of his brother, Renie Lanb, 2 miles south of Andalusia. He disappeared in May, 1902. He had been married after leaving here.

Perry M. Cheney died Friday at his home in Rural tnp, aped 77 years. He came to this state in 1848 and has been a resident of Rural since. He married Elizabeth Simon and they had one child, Clinton, who lives at home. He is survived by his wife, son, 2 brothers and 2 sisters: Lafayette Cheney who lived with Vance his brother; Mrs. Robt Vance of Milan ; Mrs. Shaw and John CheneyShaw of Missouri . The funeral was Monday with burial In the Beulah Cemetery.

Victor Samuelson died Tuesday at his hone on the Mosher farm near Andalusia aged 57 years 4 months. He is survived by his wife and several children.
Mrs. Hayes, an aged lady who had lived on Dickson Street for a quarter century, was taken to the county infirmary at Coal Valley . She has no relatives here. She says she has 3 children, a son in the Black Hills , and 2 daughters who were here at one time and then returned to New York State where Mrs. Hayes originally came from.
Mrs. Edmond Stodd whose husband died about 2 months ago will leave for England next Saturday with her brother-in-law. She and her 4 children may remain there.

Brandenburg Charles H. Brandenburg died here Thursday. He was born 25 September 1851 in Muscatine , Iowa and came to this county in 1854 to be a painter. He married Miss Edith Gotobed in 1880. She survives as do 2 sons: Charles jr and William D. Brandenburg; his aged mother Mrs. A.Gitt; by 3 half-brothers: J.W. Gitt of Sears; Wm 0. Gitt of South Rock Island; (these are the only 2 half-brothers listed); by two half-sisters: Mrs.Jennie Devoe of-South Rock Island ; and Mrs. Cora Ellis of Bowling. The funeral was Saturday at the Presbyterian Church with burial in the Chippiannock Cemetery in Rock Island .
Joseph Lloyd died Friday at his home near Edgington, at an advanced age. He settled in Millersburg, Mercer County where he was a tailor and some years later, settled on the farm where he died. Tillie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Scott of Rural, died on Saturday at the home of her parents, aged 16 years. She is survived by her parents; by 2 sisters - Miss Florence and Missy May at home; and by George and Tennyson Scott (brothers?) ofRock Island . The funeral was Monday with burial in Rock Island 's Chippiannock Cemetery . |
South Mrs. D.R. South died Monday in Milan . She was born Maria Bridgeford in Butler Co., Ohio on 12 May 1841 and was thus aged 62 years, 6 months, 18 days. She married D.R. South on 6 March 1862 and they had 5 children: Olves and Delaska South, at home;
Nice J Mainly who died at the age of 18 years; Mrs. William Nice of Milan and Brownwell of Rock island . She is also survived by her husband and 2 sisters - Mrs. Joseph Tindall and Mrs. Louisa Tindall of Sherrard; and by 2 brothers: Albert and Henry Bridgeford of Denver , Colorado ; and by 4 grandchildren. The funeral was at the Milan Presbyterian Church with burial in the Chippiannock Cemetery , Rock Island .

A letter from a former resident of Milan , Dr. L.F. Ranbarger of Tacoma , Washington is published in which he mentions that he is working in the Cascade Mtns. He also notes that his brother George is living in town and is working for Wm Pearsall. His brother George has married Mrs. Smith of Sears.
An article by John P. Dickson of Pecatonica, Illinois of early days in Milan notes that 65 years ago, Capt. John Wilson ran a ferry from Rock Island to Davenport, Iowa by means of a flatboat polled upstream to Fort Armstrong and then to Davenport by oars.... E.S. Denison ran a ferry at New Boston, Mercer County . J. Vandruff also ran a ferry at the foot of the bluff near the Watch Tower .

She was born in Pennsylvania and is survived by 2 sons Oscar Solomon of Rock Island and John Solomon of Peoria and by a daughter, Miss Ella Solomon of Denver . The funeral was today. She was a resident of Milan at one time.

COAL VALLEY : George Radliff, an aged resident of this place, died Tuesday aged 77 years. He had been a resident of Coal Valley for 38 years. The funeral was Thursday from the Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife and by 2 children - Henry Radliff and Mrs. Will Henderson, both of this place. Burial was in the Coal Valley Cemetery .
COLONA: Arthur, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Block of Colona, Henry County was killed by the train on Wednesday; he was 10 years old.

The application of J.D. Lafferty of Milan for aid as a blind person, was rejected by the Board of Supervisors.
Luke Humphrey, an old resident of Milan , died November 27th at the Soldier's home in Los Angeles , California aged 84 years. He was formerly John Gilmore's ice man and also worked for a time for John Tlndall.

John P.Anderson who died in Oakland , Nebraska aged 71 years. The funeral was at Oakland .
Charles Wulff jr. son of Charles G.Wulff of Sears died Sunday at Las Vegas, New Mexico aged 28 years. Burial will be In Rock Island.

An article on early days in Milan mentions that Zodack (sic) Bruner Kalbaugh operated a sawmill and that Nicholas Bruner operated a corn mill. He died some years later in Milan .
Alexander Coulter died Friday at the home of his son, W.J. Coulter, 2226 5th Avenue in Rock Island. The funeral was Monday with burial in the Beulah Cemetery in Rural tnp. He was born 15 August 1822 in Argyle, Washington Co., New York and came west in 1864, making his home in Peoria, Ills. In 1870 he came to this county and was a farmer in Rural; he has resided in this vicinity since. He was married in 1859 to Miss Mary Hess of Loraine, New York; she died in 1870. He is survived by these children - W.J. Coulter of Rock Island; J.P. Coulter of Rural; Mrs. Maggie Chaney of Rural; and Alexander Coulter of Taylor Ridge.
