
Funeral services for Samuel Lipton, 73, who died at his home in Rural Township Monday morning ( 3 Nov 1941 ) on the date of his 44th wedding anniversary, will be tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 in the home and at 2:30 in the Presbyterian church, the Revs. Lawrence Johnson of Rock Island, C. E. Hoff of East Moline and C. A. Litchfield officiating. Burial will be in Western Cemetery . Mr. Liptom was born near Preemption , Oct. 1, 1868 , and attended Preemption schools and the old Geneseo Collegiate Institute. He later taught school, farmed and engaged in auctioneering. He married Miss Maude Mowry of Sherrard, Nov. 3, 1894 . Mr. Lipton was a member of Beulah Presbyterian church 25 years and served as Sunday School Superintendent at the time of his death. Survivors are the widow; two daughters, Miss Marjory Lipton, teacher in Frances Willard school, Rock Island, and Mrs. G. C. McConkey, St. Louis; five grandchildren; four brothers, W. H. Lipton, Chicago; J. J. Lipton, Biggsville, and E. J. Lipton and B. H. Lipton, Preemption, and two sisters, Miss Laura Lipton, Preemption, and Mrs. F. E. Sudlow, Rock Island.
