TWELFTH ILLINOIS INFANTRY

(Three months' service)

Among the early regiments to be formed was the Twelfth Illinois Infantry, which was mus tered into the service in April, 1861, and was mustered out August 1, 1861, having fulfilled the duty which was expected, which was to hold our line on the Ohio river until the troops for longer service were enlisted and armed.
