Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home, Toulon. Rev. Paul Wier will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home. Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery, Toulon. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Toulon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

Born April 7, 1913, in Downing, Mo., the son of Loren and Ella Gullett Elschlager, he married Eleanor Rist on Jan. 7, 1940, in Toulon. She died March 6, 1998, in Peoria.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty Miller of Illinois City and Mrs. Roger (Linda) Shults of Toulon; two grandchildren, Keith Shults and Brian Shults; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Ruel Elschlager of Burlington, Iowa; and one sister, Vina Graham of Iowa. Also preceding him in death was two sisters.

He was an area farmer and roofing contractor for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Toulon United Methodist Church, Toulon.
