Mrs. William McCurdy Dies, Peoria
Hospital
Mrs. William
McCurdy, 40, of near Castleton, passes away Thursday evening in Peoria Proctor
Hospital. Her death followed a 10 days' illness and a major operation.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday
afternoon in Snareville church, with Rev. A. L. Steinfeldt in charge. Song
service was givien by Mrs. Earl Griggs, Mrs. Ralph Webber and Mrs. Harry Barton,
accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Bert Collins. Selections were "Lead Kindly
Light", "Asleep in Jesus" and "Abide With Me".
Body-bearers were Mark Plotner, Clarence McCurdy, Allen
Harmon, Francis Johnson, Alva Murray and John Francis.
Interment was in Toulon cemetery.
Born in Bureau County.
Decedent
was born May 22, 1898, in Lone Tree, Bureau county, her parents being George and
Addie Johnson. She was united in marriage Aug. 22, 1925, to William McCurdy, who
survives.
She was a graduate of Bradford High School and of
Illinois Sate Normal University at Normal. She taught school several years
before her marriage. She was a member of Bradford Baptist church. She also was a
member of Bradford Baptist church. She also was a member of the County Research
Club, of Osceola Grove; the Women's Missionary Society, Stark County Home Bureau
and the Parent-Teacher association in the district in which she lived.
Mrs. McCurdy is survived by her husband, two sons, Dean
and Marshall, at home; her father George Johnson, of Bradford, and three
brothers, Raymond Johnson, of Princeville; Victor Johnson, of Lacon, and Albert
Johnson, at home. She was preceded in death by her mother, one brother and an
infant son.
