Toulon - Lucile Wickey, 92, a resident of
Toulon Health Care for the past 10 years and a longtime Toulon resident,
died at 7:05 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, at OSF St. Mary's Medical Center in
Galesburg. Born Dec. 4, 1912, in East Moline to John Franklin and Rena Sharp
Catton, she married Leland Edward Wickey on Feb. 10, 1940, in Davenport,
Iowa. He died March 28,
1987, in Kewanee. She also was preceded in death by one sister.
Surviving are one daughter,
Betty Joan Winter of Peoria; one son, Terry (and Marjorie) Wickey of
Kewanee; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildrn;
one sister, Margaret Griffin of Kewanee; and one half-brother, Donald Catton
of Silvis. She worked as a housekeeper in the Toulon area for 10 years and
then worked at the Kraft Cheese Plant in Toulon for two years during the
1950s.
She later was a housekeeper
for Oakwood Nursing Home, formerly Leisure Hills, in Kewanee and last was
head housekeeper for Toulon Health Care Center before retiring. She served
as a 4-H leader for 14 years.
She was a member of Toulon
United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home. The Rev.
Paul Wier will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the
funeral home. Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery.
