Scheider, Dorothy – March 18, 1905-December 26, 1927, daughter of Levi and Elsie (Redmer) Scheider.

Dorothy Minnie Louise Scheider
McConnell, Ill., Dec. 30 – Dorothy Minnie Louisse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi C. Scheider of McConnell, Illinois. after a linger illness of three years, passed away peacefully at the home of her parents at eleven o’clock a.m. on Monday Dec. 26th, 1927, at the age of 22 years, 9 months and 8 days.  Dorothy was born at Freeport on March 18th, 1905, spending the first 15 years of her life in that city.  Here she attended the public school and early in life became interested in church work, taking an active part wherever possible.  About eight years ago her parents decided to engage in farming, moving to Waddams township Stephenson County, Illinois, locating near McConnell.  Here the family chose the Richland Methodist church as their church home, all taking membership with the same.  As long as health permitted, Dorothy with loyalty to God and the church, continued a faithful attendant upon the means of Grace.  She devoted her rare gift of song to Kingdom interests.  Her sickness demanded almost three years of uninterrupted confinement to her bed.  With real Christian fortitude she submitted to the unavoidable.
“There is no Death!  What seems so, is transition, This life of mortal breath is but a suburb of the life elysian, Whose portal we call Death.
She is not dead, - the child o our affection, - But gone unto that school Where she no longer needs our poor protection, And Christ himself doth rule.
In that great cloister’s stillness and seclusion By guardian angels led, Safe from Temptation, safe from sin’s pollution, She lives, whom we call dead.
Day after day we think what she is doing In those bright realms of air; Year after year, her tender steps pursuing, Behold her, grown more fair.
Thus do we walk with her, and keep unbroken The bond which nature gives.  Thinking our sad remembrance, though unspoken, May reach her where she lives.”
Those surviving are, her devoted parents and younger sister Margaret, who did all that kind and loving hands can do for her comfort, besides many other relatives and friends……Services were conducted at the home and at the Richland Methodist church by the pastor Rev. H. W. Schneider, Wednesday, Dec. 28th.
