John William Bayles and Mattie Frances Green August 30, 1887 Clark County, Kentucky John was from Bourbon County, Kentucky Mattie was from Clark County, Kentucky

In the 1880's, John came to Central Illinois to work for Funks of
Funks Grove. He went back to Kentucky to marry Mattie, and
every summer he would come back to work for Funks. After the
first four children were born in Clark County Kentucky, they moved
to rural Carlock, Kansas Township, where they built a log cabin by
the Mackinaw River. The cabin went deep into a hill. They were
warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Eight more children
were born to them in Kansas Township, with ten children reaching
adulthood. Mattie and John are both buried at Denman Cemetery, White Oak Township, McLean County, Illinois |
